Pattern matching is the act of checking for the presence of the constituents of a pattern. The detection of underlying patterns is called pattern recognition. The question of how different patterns emerge is accomplished through the work of the scientific field of pattern formation. 1. mind blowing 1959, the beginning sounds like dave clark techno from about 1994 by the end sounds like sheffield bleep techno from 1990 did man have time machine.

  2. i’m just starting to get into his work now. thanks to all of your who are teaching us about his life and work.

  3. Whose drawings are these? They are terrific.

  4. @rEdf196

This probably sounded like music from the year 2000 in 1959.

If somebody had played this for me I would have guessed:”Late 70’s electronic avantgarde”, “80’s synth instrumental” or even the “bitpop” genre of the 2000’s.

This was truly ahead of time, especially considering that composing this with the equipment available meant one had to be a studio technician, engineer and inventor all at the same time.

  5. woah, RAYMOND SCOTT was ahead of his time, great piece

  6. I can see some parallels with this and the band Passion Pit. Ok, maybe I’m crazy….

  11. @Orninadisco No, it’s not from the 1960s/’70s — it’s from 1959.

  12. I have been looking for this track for quite a long time.

Heard it during a trip in the UK in 2004. The guys from the house I was staying in were totally fucked because of coke and put this song so loudly I had to sleep in the garden.

  13. This music blows me away. Sounds like it came from the 80s. Absolutely amzing just to think this song existed when Elvis, Frankie Avalon and Patboon were topping the charts and the 59 cadillac was brand new.WOW!

  14. very cool! also check out this acoustic instrumental trio gaining popularity in sweden, they go by “Star FK Radium”

  15. It’s so ahead of its time, it’s still ahead of THIS time!!!

  21. its crazy to think how modern all of raymond scotts music really is

  22. What makes RS’s career truly remarkable is that he enjoyed commercial success both with the very mainstream Lucky Strike Hit Parade TV show & with his avant-garde stylings with the Quintette, that produced huge hits like “The Toy Trumpet”, and then later dedicated his talent & financial resources to developing this electronic music. His career is completely unmatched in the annals of American music.

  23. 1:25 is pure techno

  24. that was a tease… turn that bitch on!

  25. Happy Birthday to a pioneer!
